Yesterday in town at Isleton, I happened to notice a traveling vax flier on the counter of the little Hispanic grocery I frequent. It was in Spanish but I got the drift of it, advertising all three flavors. Today I got there shortly after they opened and they only had one flavor, Pfizer, but at least it wasn't J&J. So there's my 7 month booster. Was wondering how, if, and when I might make it in to Sacramento again, which is an all day affair on the bus. Several hours later... not much. I'm unimpressed. Maybe it'll hit me tomorrow. UC Davis put the event on. Chatted briefly with the extremely bored doctor (who confirmed such) there to monitor people for anaphylactic shock. He said it's one in million and he hasn't had a million yet.

Updates on the bird site about Cerro Coso Anthro. Missed a perfect score of something like 436 points by 1 point, which would have been highly amusing to me given that I kept throwing exam questions. That's so much less petty and antagonistic than CS. I've got one kid who is clearly trying to do everything perfectly in U*ple who keeps responding to my discussion posts trying to pick them apart. The instructor is barking up all of the wrong trees. This is why people hate nerds. You can write non-sense as long as the word counts are correct and pass the class. Everyone doing digital circuits clearly copying the visuals of the leaked assignment key pictures but not understanding them well enough to make them work, so they look identical to the official solution but are non-functional when you load them in the simulator. So much pointless pedanticism. Quizzes continue to have errors. The pedanticism only flows one way.

Weather was gorgeous today but as happens with clear skies during the day, it's cold at night. I almost bought an extremely tacky polyester fuzzy leopard print blanket at the Rancho store yesterday and now I'm thinking I might have to try to grab it.

Spent this morning trying to get through to the IRS including using the services that took over that pre-dial and pre-queue. Dialing in myself, after eventually figuring out one way to try to get a human, I was just told that due to call volume I would be disconnected, after being disconnected a dozen times in failed attempts to get a human and after figuring out the automated system can't help me. The service got stuck at 6 minutes for an hour then when I tried again, it got stuck at 6 minutes ago. It took a year for them to cash the check, then it took most of a year for my appeal that they didn't apply it to anyone once they cashed it, then I got a letter saying they had sent a check "plus interest" but I didn't get the check. Since it is "plus interest", I don't know the exact amount of the overpayment refund, and the automated system requires that (it lists three things it has to have but once you start working through, it demands to know the date you filed and various other things). Since I can't get through on the phone, my recourse seems to be to file yet another form to try to fix the mistake on fixing the mistake on fixing the mistake. It's amazing how the errors are always in the IRS' favor and what a time vampire fixing them is.

That, some deck scrubbing, a shot, reading for the BS in IT, reading for Masters in Human Resources, PhDc in Education (not making this up) the IInd's class (wish I could skip that but you're graded on just the most arbitrary non-concepts). It's finally the paper that he was so excited about when the class started. It's not going to be in APAv7 because Papaja/pandoc/Knitr doesn't know about it yet. It does know how to output docx, a hard requirement apparently Jr's plagiarism checker doesn't do pdf and the only thing he's doing in this class is running written assignments through that. That and crying about formatting. He's not answering student questions. I am.
