Trying to get Lira's Welding, conveniently located right across the Sacramento (I like the idea of place names being by default bodies of water instead of human cities), to do things, has been a little challenging, and I've been suspecting that showing up on a bicycle was part of that. When they did do work, they were trying to discount the hourly labor, which gets in to complexity with charity work not necessarily being an open door to more work, and a small town welding shop is already inexpensive work.

This morning I caught the kitty corner neighbor, who had previously offered rides if I needed, and took her up on that. A few hours later, we had her SO's big black SUV thing. Only one data point, but night and day. "How quick do you need this?" instead of "oh, you know... this might be expensive... we'll call you with an estimate", and not calling; then after repeated visits, refusing to accept the $200 quoted and only wanting $100.

This is the neighbor who got not one but three windsurf boards, none of which have centerboards. I got more stories than I was ready for. She has a horse, which is beautiful, but was in equestrian jumping competitions and now has bone spurs and mobility problems, two large dogs in addition to her small dog, staying with a friend, and all kinds of stuff.

Next unit at U*Peep successfully LOA'd. Stayed up last night doing work on the MUD even tho work-work def still has open tickets. Travel needs some details ironed out. Was well in to jacket weather turf this morning and the sun has not come out by afternoon. Going from solitude to mother is going to be challenging.
