Jan. 23rd, 2023 02:47 pm%&$!. I only shoveled snow for four hours and I'm insta-sore. Fucking being old.
https://www.albanyjcc.org/fitness-aquatics/indoor-pool-updates/ ... looks like the pool's going to be closed a bit longer. Having to start a fundraising campaign and uh meet goals has a way of slowing shit down JCC has an outdoor pool too that's somehow crappier than the indoor pool but of course the brainiacs behind all of this don't have it open right now. Did manage to swim at the quickest to get to by bus YMCA. Despite the initial sat image check, there was sidewalk most of the way from the last bus stop, but there's also a sketchy causeway with annihilated guardrail section that's sketchy and has no sidewalk. Took some pics of that. R reports that there was an urban YMCA, "North Albany", but they closed it soon after we got here. Quit building shit for woodchucks and build shit for humans. Woodchucks already have pools. Leave them alone. Also seems like concrete is a shit thing to build a pool out of. Build it out of mud. That works. There are mud pools that are tens of thousands of years old. This thing is from the 70's and ready to pop like a balloon that sucks people in to a subterranean cavity of death. Yellowstone is like six times older and barely anyone has died in those pools. (See also Bumpass Hell... why is it so funny and awesome that our favorite thing to make parks out of is hot mud? The US is just a B-rate Iceland).
I could probably throw the GT on the bus and do the Bethlehem YMCA in about 50 minutes each way but I don't have time to wash or de-corrode the salt. And as long as we've known about Yellowstone, we've been crapping directly in to the Hudson. Maybe I'll start eating little bottles with inspirational messages in them.
