Dec. 13th, 2022 09:40 pmMore boring updates.
3rd of the 4 side shroud chainplates mostly in. Lots of meetings. Zoom tablet is getting a workout. I initially put a VNC client on it so I could share my desktop from the laptop to the Zoom tablet, but then went the other way, and put a VNC server on the tablet so I can copy and paste to/from the tablet. Need to do the remaining side shroud and then fiberglass around both of them. Slackened and detached rigging, pulled out the temporary chainplate, dug out an irregular half inch or so of rotten wood out of the fiberglass wood sandwich, opened up the hole a bit more to fit the slightly larger chainplate, packed epoxy putty back in where I scraped out wood, bolted the chainplate in place (one of the bolts not lining up well enough, ugh), packed the gaps with more poxy putty. Plan is to build up about an 1/8th of an inch of fiberglass in a small rectangle around it on deck to try to keep the stupid bloody damn water out, and that's what I did with the first two. Will have to add bronze washers later.
Maintenance people finished the new dock ramp and were really happy about it. They were working with big pieces of timber and were tired and sore and came around and told everyone that the ramp is open. All of this is built on top of four steel pylons and I beams, and it's a pretty large and otherwise unsupported deck. They made the ramp down to the street less steep and were proud of that. When not ferrying the bike, sometimes I've just been grabbing the paddle and jumping on the one of the foam blocks and paddling it back and forth. That was fun but ramp is handy.
