Dec. 15th, 2022 12:58 amMore boring updates.
Chainplates in, except for one stainless bolt still in one hole that shredded the threads on a bronze bolt. May try again later. Not sure what isn't lining up. And except for the fiberglass icing on top. And except for putting rig tension back where it should be, though I tightened it to marginally passable.
Wound up giving the starboard upper's wooden wedge a coat of epoxy then put it in front of the space heater to kick and that took a good few hours which I spent finishing the hatch, which involved clamping the oak backing to the plastic and jigsawwing carefully around the perimeter of the plastic, then sanding, taping, and putting a coat of varnish on the edges that got cut, then drilling and screwing the hasp lock on. I got another Stanley locking hasp for this besides the one I got from the roadside plywood emergency cover so there are two of them and of course I thought I'd try the old key in the new one and it worked. Looking at the keys though, they're very different, and have completely different three number codes on them. So, uh, that's not encouraging. Haven't tried the old key to the lock on the lost hatch but I have plenty of spare keys I guess. And a whole emergency spare hatch. Pulled the kayak back around without towing a dock float and it was heavenly.
Still so many projects to do, but the next order of business is just putting up. Was really hoping to get to cockpit seat drainage. Pics to follow, eventually.
