Dec. 16th, 2022 05:44 pmRegistered for U*P's intro to operating systems class. This should be interesting. I was sticking Minix 5.25" floppies in 8086 lab PCs so I didn't have to use MS-DOS, and grew up on Ultrix, SunOS, AIX 2, HP/UX, etc, etc, before Linux was born. I've slogged through the Coriolis Linux 2.4 book, photocopied Lion's in library then bought my own copy, written simple device drivers for SysV, read the Design and Implementation BSD book. I could have taken the intro to web programming class. I get grief for going a bit off the rails but how can I not do things to make things more interesting. Going to try to execute Ruthless Efficiency tho. If this were a real school, we'd be tested on concepts instead of the tiniest, most obscure pieces of how particular examples were phrased in the text and it would be a lot less work.
