Don't have much to post but I should probably post, so, I guess as usual, here's news of the trivia.

Cooking a frozen pizza in a cast iron skillet on a burner works fine.

Wrote a long thread on bsd.network about what I remember of my history of fighting with cell carriers. Trying to have a backup for PureTalk and a unicorn non-evil cell company would be nice. PureTalk like most carriers started doing packet inspection to try to keep people from tethering, but they're having some growing pains with it that paying for tethering data doesn't solve. That reminds me that I way too much have all my eggs in one basket again so trying to deal with that. I've just about run Wikipedia's list of resellers and pissed off or been pissed off by each. Almost all resellers now have a compatibility check, but instead of doing like they used to where they made sure that that phone model had the right bands with the right protocols, it checks to see if it is one of the 30 phones they're selling and if it isn't well by golly gee whiz they'll sell you one. I just did a Google image search for IMEI + one of their phone models and plugged in an IMEI off the Internet so I could get a Verizon reseller SIM for a 4G Verizon branded access point that the reseller was declaring incompatible. There's also a strong push to get people on 5G and that's part of that, but new Verizon 5G access points cost $700 or have abysmal reviews and 3G was faster than 4G out where I'm at so doubting 5G will work at all even if the tower does it. Dense encoding schemes don't really do long range well. Too much hot gas for that to work.

Saw a little bit of winter winds out of the north and east but now we're solidly in to summer winds out of the west.

Looking at bronze on McMaster again, I was surprised to see they have cobalt rod and bar, so I went and searched that and apparently cobalt can, depending on the alloy, have excellent corrosion resistance, and has way, way stronger tensile strength than "bearing" aluminium bronze, like an order of magnitude more. The price is also an order of magnitude more. It also reportedly is extremely wear resistant. I'm intrigued. But don't tell Leo from Tally Ho.

Getting some exercise and socialization in feels good, after some catch-up. Still much to do. One major complication is I still haven't lined up a haul out to have some work done so it's difficult to make plans without that piece. Again. Still.

I haven't decided what precious or semi-precious stone to name the next computer after next. It would be kind of hilarious to name it Cobalt.
